1st Round - 2nd Overall
LEONARD DAVIS - OT - Texas  --  6'6 - 370 - 5.2

Davis makes Arizona's line the biggest in football. Davis and LJ Shelton should make Jake Plummer's life easier. An excellent run blocker, Davis may also help out last year's first rounder, Thomas Jones.

2nd Round - 34th Overall
KYLE VANDENBOSCH - DE - Nebraska   --   6'4 - 260 - 4.65

The pass rusher Arizona needed with Simeon Rice leaving. A strong combine pushed VanDenBosch up but I would have liked to have seen Schobel or DeLawrence Grant here. Nevertheless, Arizona filled a need.

3rd Round - 54th Overall
MICHAEL STONE - CB - Memphis    --   5'11 - 190 - 4.4

There were higher rated corners on the board but apparently Arizona's Corey Chavous worked out with Stone and being the draftnik he is, Chavous suggested the pick. Stone does have the athletic ability.

3rd Round - 64th Overall
ADRIAN WILSON - S - NC State    --    6'3 - 215 - 4.5

An underclassman with great size. Wilson is a big hitter who could become a starter in Arizona sooner than many people think. This was a nice pick even though it didn't seem like they had a huge need at Safety.

4th Round - 98th Overall
BILL GRAMATICA - K - South Florida   --   5'9 - 188 - 5.22

Cary Blanchard's days in Arizona are numbered. The younger Gramatica has the accuracy and the leg of his brother Martin. Gramatica will give Arizona much better depth on kickoffs.

5th Round - 123rd Overall
MARCUS BELL - DT - Memphis    --    6'1 - 319 - 5.25

This may have been a little high for Bell but Arizona must have fallen in love with him. They definitely needed defensive linemen and Bell does have the athleticism to be a surprise.

5th Round - 133rd Overall
MARIO FATAFEHI - DT - Kansas State   --   6'2 - 307 - 5.1

Another Defensive Tackle. Fatafehi is a strong player who uses leverage well to stop the run. He's a bit inexperienced but I think he could really develop into a nice player.

6th Round - 166th Overall
BOBBY NEWCOMBE - WR - Nebraska   --  5'11 - 190 - 4.45

Versatile. That best describes Bobby Newcombe. He started out as a QB but developed into a WR/wingback type of player. At the very least, he should be a good return man.

7th Round - 202nd Overall
RENALDO HILL - CB - Michigan State    --    5'11 - 175 - 4.58

The Cardinals picked two corners but it definitely will take more than that to replace the departed Aeneas Williams. Still, expect Hill to make this squad because they are really low on depth.

7th Round - 246th Overall
TEVITA OFAHENGAUE - TE - BYU    --    6'2 - 250 - 4.8

Mr.Irrelevent. But don't be surprised if he sticks. The Cardinals need some depth at TE especially if Chris Gedney deceides to leave. So Mr.Irrelevent might have some relevence after all.

FINAL GRADE:B First off, you have to like Leonard Davis. He's no Tony Mandrich and should be a big help to Jake the Snake. After that though, I though Stone and VandenBosch were reaches. Both are athletic and could surprise but I though there were better value picks on the board. Adrian Wilson and Bill Gramatica were two good picks. Don't be surprised if Wilson ends up a starter. Another pick I liked was Bobby Newcombe in the sixth. He could be a spark plug.

Thomas Jones
Last year's 1st Round pick RB Thomas Jones (7th Overall) had a difficult rookie season. Now in his second year, the team expects him to challenge Michael Pittman for the starting job. Jones has the mind set and the talent to do it. An improved offensive line wouldn't hurt him either. Last year's 2nd round pick LB Raynoch Thompson should be a starter this year and joining him on defense will be a host of 2nd year players. DTs Mao Tosi and Jabari Issa should all get time on the defensive front (Darwin Walker was cut). David Barrett will push for a nickel spot and LB Sekou Sanyika will look to continue his stellar Special Teams work.
