1st Round - 4th Overall
JUSTIN SMITH - DE - Missouri  --  6'4 - 277 - 4.6

Builds up the defense although they needed O-Line. Smith will step in and start for LeBeau. He is a safe, solid pick who could erase the memory of some of Cincy's past first round busts.

2nd Round - 36th Overall
CHAD JOHNSON - WR - Oregon State   --   6'2 - 195 - 4.5

Would have been a 1st Rounder with a better 40 time. Essentially another 1st Rounder for the Bengals. With Darnay Scott's injury questions, this is a great pick for the Bengals.

3rd Round - 66th Overall
SEAN BREWER - TE - San Jose State   --   6'2 - 255 - 4.84

Brewer is a guy whose stock has been rising so it's not that big of a shock that he was picked here. Cincinati has Tony McGee and Marco Battaglia but neither has really been a world beater.

4th Round - 100th Overall
RUDI JOHNSON - RB - Auburn   --   5'9 - 220 - 4.55

Johnson is a pretty good value. It's not often the SEC Player of the Year is still available in the 4th but Johnson's questionable speed dropped him. This pick is probably Corey Dillon insurance.

5th Round - 135th Overall
VICTOR LEYVA - G - Arizona State   --   6'3 - 305 - 5.35

Leyva is another guy who gained some momentum in the offseason. Cincinati's Offensive Line wasn't that good last year so any help they can get is certainly welcome.

6th Round - 168th Overall
RIALL JOHNSON - LB/DE - Stanford   --   6'3 - 240 - 4.8

Johnson is a good pass rusher so he may be a situational end but he can't play there every down because of his size. If he is to play at LB, then his coverage skills will have to improve. He'll start out on Special Teams.

7th Round - 204th Overall
T.J. HOUSHMANZADEH - WR - Oregon State    --   6'1 - 205 - 4.57

He'll join his receiving buddy Chad Johnson (see above) in Cincinati. TJ is a big receiver who has good hands and all around receiver skills. Probably would be a lot higher rated if he ran faster.

FINAL GRADE: B+ If Justin Smith has a great year, then they could rate higher but I view him as playing in the league for a long time but not really being an All Pro. I think Kenyatta Walker may have been a better pick. Still, the two Oregon State Wideouts were both great values for where they were picked. As was Rudi Johnson. Leyva could see time as a rookie.

Peter Warrick
WR Peter Warrick was held back by the talent level around him but still brought some excitement to Cincinati. He should get more help this year with Darnay Scott returning and if Akili Smith progresses as expected, Warrick could have a much better 2nd season. His Florida State teammate WR Ron Dugans and a free agent pick up WR Danny Farmer both got time and Farmer was a very pleasant surprise. A former UCLA star, Farmer was drafted in the 6th Round by Pittsburgh but was cut before the season started and picked up by Cincinati. RB Curtis Keaton has a chance to be the Bengals third down back with his sub 4.4 speed.
