2002 RUNNING BACK PROSPECTS

1.NAJEH DAVENPORT - Miami - Senior
6'2 - 225 - 4.3
Davenport is a great combination of size and speed. He has played some Fullback in college but he has all the skills necessary to be an NFL feature back. He also catches the ball pretty well out of the backfield.
2.CEDRIC COBBS - Arkansas - Junior
6'2 - 200 - 4.25
That forty time was recorded at the Arkansas Pro Day and if he can run even close to that again, he'll  top this list. His sophomore season was cut short by an injury, only time will tell if he's recovered.
3.TJ DUCKETT - Michigan State - Junior
6'2 - 255 - 4.45
Duckett is a man among boys athletically. His physical, punishing running style has drawn comparisons to Earl Campbell. His talents are rare and he could very well be the first runner selected if he were to come out.
4.DeSHAUN FOSTER - UCLA - Senior
6'1 - 215 - 4.45
Foster is as talented as any other back but injuries have hampered him. If he can prove that he can stay healthy for an entire season, he is worthy of a top 15 selection.
5.LEE SUGGS - Virgina Tech - Junior
6'0 - 205 - 4.27
Suggs has nice measurables. Great speed to go along with nice size. He has shown a nose for the endzone. To move up, he will have to show that he can catch the ball out of the backfield.
6.DEREK WATSON - South Carolina - Junior
6'0 - 205 - 4.3
Watson is a great talent but his off the field problems have dropped him. He faces being suspended indefinitely from the team and as a result will have to either transfer or enter the draft early.
7.MAURICE MORRIS - Oregon - Senior
6'1 - 205 - 4.4
Morris is a JUCO transfer who made a big impact with the Ducks in his first year. He has nice size and strength and has shown decent hands. How high he goes will depend on the status of underclassmen.
8.DAMIEN ANDERSON - Northwestern - Senior
5'10 - 210 - 4.45
Anderson is the top college back. He puts up numbers like no other back but he lacks respect when it comes to draft status. If he can have another big year and run a good forty, he could make a Tomlinson-like move up.
9.ADRIAN PETERSON - Georgia Southern - Senior
5'10 - 230 - 4.5
Peterson is one of the top small school guys in the draft. He has great power and strength. His level of competition is a concern as is his position. He has played Fullback before in college. He may be a 1-back type.
10.JONATHON WELLS - Ohio State - Senior
6'1 - 230 - 4.5
Wells is a bigger back who shared the carries with Derek Combs last year. He gets his chance now. He is a nice prospect who will have to have a big year to move up further.

UNDERRATED
KEN SIMONTON - Oregon State - Senior
5'7 - 185 - 4.45
His size is a concern but Simonton has great lower body strength which makes up for his size. Despite his size he has been very durable and productive.

SLEEPER
LEVRON WILLIAMS - Indiana - Senior
6'3 - 215 - 4.5
Big, that's the first thing you notice. A former receiver who has good hands out of the backfield. Not a breakaway threat. If he can learn to block he would make a fabulous fullback because of his hands and size.
