| Coming into the season Derrick Gibson was considered to be a sure fire top five pick and possibly the nation's top prospect. However, legal troubles and some inconsistent play have moved him down a bit but one thing is still clear, he is an extremely physically gifted player. Gibson excels in pass coverage where he can use his speed and height to defend against the pass. Gibson is very active and quick. He closes on passes very well. As for run support Gibson is willing but isn't a great tackler. He needs some technical work on that part of his game. He hasn't been seen on a lot of blitzes at Florida State so he is untested in that part of the game but a player with his attributes should be able to become a competent blitzer. Gibson may not be a top five lock anymore but his abilities are too much to pass over. He should land in round one towards the middle part of round one. |  |
